I wanted to put a couple of questions out there for TMJ Sufferers.
These are the three questions that people ask me the most.
First, have any of you started to feel a great deal better after a certain type of treatment. If so-what kind of treatment was it. Botox? Pain blockers? For me, the dental appliance or splint helped as did one of the physios I went to.
Others ask-is there a cure? Can I feel much better? Personally, I feel much better than I did 2 years ago. At that time, I had to take five weeks off work due to the pain and pressure on the side of my face, on top of my head, on my jaw, in my ear and on my nose. My head was full of mucus and my bite was off. I remember I had bought some roast beef to make a sandwich, only to realize that I couldn’t eat it.
I don’t have the pain now-just a bit in my jaw. My head only hurts on bad bays. There are things I still can’t hew- the skin of fruit, veggies that are raw or over cooked, or things that are too glutinous ( some dumplings, rice rolls). So my repertoire of foods is better.
The glasses I wear now are made of titanium. They are lighter and this hurts my jaw less.
So generally, things are better.
The third thing people wonder about is if others have the odd aches and pains as they do. My TMJ has now resulted in my top and bottom teeth occasionally scrapping against one another. I have to say this unnerves me. My bite is off-this I know- but this is a very strange thing. I don’t think there is anything that could be done about it.
Please write to me to tell me your thoughts about these three points.
